Orientation visit to the Athens-Pireaus waterfront with Sherri Backstrom

26 April 2007. This morning my partner, Katerina, and I met Sherri Backstrom at her hotel in downtown Athens and took a drive to the Athens - Piraeus coast. Sherri is visiting Greece ( - her first time here!) to meet and get to know yacht charterers and other contacts, with a view to developing her global yacht charter-brokering business, Waypoint Charter Services.
We visited the… Continue

Thanks a lot Ivor, I didn't have the opportunity to talk to you personally yesterday in Bellaterra! Never mind, my web is only in Catalan and Spanish...sorry, I'll make an effort and try to translate it to english at least!
On the other hand, It's true we have little things done but there is a LOOOONG and hard way to do in my small town Catalonia because wishes are not realities: most of the times, and I think you do understand me.
Salut!

G'day Ivor
As you'll have read, we are testing design ideas to make a keelboat yacht easier to access by wheelchair users. I'm a designer and inventor who has used a wheelchair since a hang gliding accident 32 years ago (yesterday) and will be interested in swapping ideas with other designers doing the same.
I already know Luigi in Italy and am aware of the UK designs but I want to have a yacht suitable for Club Racing, not just cruising.
Cheers Colin

Hi Ivor! Thanks for your message.
No full sea access on Kefalonia yet, but you can get onto the local beach where a strong and helpful lifeguard is very willing to be of assistance!
I will add photos when I can. This one is of the recent Carnival where we raised 500E for charity. There is a cycle race here every Spring which includes paralympic athletes - see www.panbike.gr
